What changed, and when
AAFx is bought once, not rented. This page exists so you can see it is alive — every release, with what it actually fixed, including the bugs we introduced ourselves.
2.4.6 — 3 August 2026Current version
- Volume levels and fades now reach Pro Tools. They were written into the AAF all along, but in a form Pro Tools does not interpret: they now travel as automation curves, including for a clip at constant volume.
- New option in the right-hand bar: keep levels and fades, or not, depending on whether the sound department wants your starting point or bare regions.
- Licence moved to the top of Settings, with the activation field and the buy button.
2.4.5 — 3 August 2026
- Licence moved to the top of Settings, in a box of its own: plan, expiry, trial days left, buy button and activation field together.
- You can now enter your key directly in the app. Until now it could only be typed at first launch, which left anyone buying during their trial stuck.
2.4.4 — 3 August 2026
- Buy a licence button during the trial, showing the days remaining.
- Compatibility stated plainly: Final Cut Pro 12.3, FCPXML 1.14 and .fcpxmld bundles.
2.4.3 — 3 August 2026
- Major fix to what actually gets exported: a short clip holding a long rush poured the whole rush into the session. One programme received ten times too much material, stacked across dozens of tracks.
- Clips whose audio is disabled in the edit no longer travel, including inside compound clips.
- Multicam: every active audio angle is now carried. Only the first was kept, which returned silence when it happened to be a quiet one.
- Track layout reworked: the two mono tracks of a stereo clip now sit side by side, and dialogue opens the session before the edit's own roles, effects and music.
- Nothing is placed before the start or after the end of the programme.
- Handles can go up to 30 seconds, with a file size estimate past 10.
2.4.2 — 3 August 2026
- Updates appear without quitting the app: it checks the site regularly and whenever you come back to the window.
- Once an update is installed, a Restart now button puts it in service.
- Remaining time estimate made far more accurate — it was heavily overstated during extraction.
- The end of a conversion reports the time spent at each stage.
2.4.1 — 3 August 2026
- Conversion markedly faster: a 26-minute programme that took minutes now finishes in tens of seconds.
- Long multitrack rushes are no longer decoded twice before being handed to ffmpeg.
- The progress bar shows elapsed time and an estimate, with no silent phase.
- New Stop button: a conversion started by mistake can be interrupted, leaving no partial AAF.
